This Nationally Accredited year long course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to participate in local government and community organisations that seek to encourage and assist community groups to identify their needs and plan and develop appropriate services and facilities to meet those needs. You will learn about the community services sector and ethical behaviour. You will also develop skills in communication, information provision and processing, administration support, networking and group support.
You will be on campus for three days study and in the workplace for the equivalent of 110 hours over the year for Workplace Learning where you will have the opportunity to gain direct experience in the work skills required in the service of the community sector.
The qualification is made up of five compulsory units and four elective units. Successful completion of this course will give you additional academic merit points for entry and continued studies at TRAINING and is a pathway qualification into community services work, Children’s Services, Disability Services, Youth Work, Mental Health and Aged Care. The Certificate II in Community Services will be issued by Challenger Institute of Technology.
