    Year 11 Design Graphics – General G1DESG & G2DESG

    General Unit 1 G1DESG

    Unit 1 – Design Fundamentals

    The focus of this unit is to introduce design process and practice. You will learn that design can be used to provide solutions to design problems and communication needs.

    The list of learning foci below is not exhaustive but may include:
    Graphic Design: set of pictograms and/or name styles for horoscope, cosmetics, music, traffic signs, animals, internet; packaging design for chosen product, for example, perfume/cosmetics, food/drinks; skateboard deck design, greeting card series, swing tags and wrapping paper, seasonal calendar images, labels for different varieties of tea, credit card series

    Unit Cost: $120

    (This includes the cost of a half day excursion or incursion)

     

    General Unit 2 G2DESG

    Unit 2 – Personal Design

    The focus of this unit is personal design. You will learn to visually communicate aspects of your personality, values and beliefs through your affiliations and manipulation of personal surroundings and environments.

    The list of learning foci below is not exhaustive but may include:
    Graphic Design: T-shirt/hoodie design, personal logo and stationery, personal invitation, front cover and/or illustration design for children’s story using self-portrait, magazine advertisement for object of personal taste, for example, shoes, fashion, bikes, food; character design and promotional poster

    Unit Cost: $120

    (This includes the cost of a half day excursion or incursion)

    Year 11 Design Photography

    General G1DESP

    The focus of Unit 1 is to introduce design process and practice in photography. You will learn that design can be used to provide solutions to design problems and communication needs. You will be introduced to basic design skills and a range of camera and Photoshop techniques and processes to demonstrate control over the elements and principles of design.

    Unit Cost: $55

    General G2DESP

    The focus of Unit 2 is personal design. You will learn to visually communicate aspects of your personality, values and beliefs through your affiliations and manipulation of personal surroundings and environments. You will explore design elements and principles and the design process in a Photographic project communicating something of themselves. You will increase familiarity with Photographic production skills and processes, materials and technologies using DSLR cameras and Photoshop.

    Year 11 ATAR Drama – A1DRA & A2DRA

    ATAR Unit 1 A1DRA

    This unit is the beginning of your journey along the Drama ATAR pathway. The focus is on representational, realistic drama. You will explore techniques of characterisation through different approaches such as those developed by Stanislavski. You will be given the opportunity to research and collaboratively workshop texts in the style of representational theatre sourced from both Australian and World theatre.

    ATAR Unit 2 A2DRA

    This is a continuation of ATAR Unit 1 with the focus on presentational, non-realistic drama. You will explore techniques of role and character through different approaches particularly those of Brecht. In this unit you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of Australian and world texts through research and performance. You will study alongside industry professionals via an online master class.

    Year 11 Drama – General G1DRA & G2DRA

    General Unit 1 G1DRA

    Do you want to be an actor, work backstage, direct and produce performances or just want to be involved in drama for enjoyment? Experience the rewards that come from developing personal skills, confidence and the knowledge and understanding that can be transferred to a range of careers and life situations. The focus of this unit is dramatic storytelling. You will view, read and explore relevant drama works and texts using drama scripts. You will also attend a professional performance at a theatre.

    General Unit 2 G2DRA

    Experience the rewards and enjoyment that come from developing your own drama productions while you explore drama performance events. In this unit you will become the playwright and the director as you extend your skills of improvisation. Learn how to construct a narrative through the use of dialogue, dramatic tension, atmosphere and symbols. Participate in a variety of Theatre Sports games that are both skillful and humorous. You will also attend an excursion to a live theatre performance and be involved in a production that will take place at a public venue. This is a great way to extend your skills and get you involved in community theatre. You will attend a professional performance at a theatre.

    Year 11 Visual Arts – General G1VAR & G2VAR

    General Unit 1 G1VAR

    Are you looking to improve your skills in the area of Visual Arts?  This General Visual Art unit will allow you to improve your drawing skills, art making skills and ideas development to create artworks for exhibition. The focus theme of this arts unit is Experiences. You will develop artworks based on your life, personal experience and observation of your environment. You will discover ways to compile and record your experiences through a wide range of art projects that promote a fundamental understanding of visual language.

    2D & 3D drawing will be fundamental in this course as well as scope for students to experience a broad range of wet and dry media to develop a body of work. A sound level of visual language and writing skills is required to complete the Investigation and Analysis tasks.

    General Unit 2 G2VAR

    Do you want to improve your skills in the area of Visual Arts? In this General Visual Arts course you will explore ways to generate and develop ideas using a variety of stimulus materials and explorations from your local environment. The focus of this unit is Explorations. You will be encouraged to use a variety of inquiry approaches, techniques & processes to create original works. You will be investigating the works of other artists and exploring ways to manipulate Elements and Principles to produce your own artworks through a body of work.
    You will be immersed into a variety of media to enable you to complete your body of work. A sound level of visual language and writing skills is required to complete the Investigation and Analysis tasks.

    Year 11 ATAR Visual Arts – A1VAR & A2VAR

    ATAR Unit 1 A1VAR

    The focus for this unit is differences. You may, for example, consider differences arising from cultural diversity, place, gender, class and historical period. Differences relating to art forms, media and conventions may also provide a stimulus for exploration and expression. You will explore ways of collecting, compiling and recording information and documenting thinking and working practices.

    You will explore approaches to drawing and develop awareness that each artist has a particular way of making marks to convey personal vision. You examine how visual language and media choices contribute to the process of conveying function and meaning, and use a range of media and technologies to explore, create, and communicate ideas.

    You will recognise that visual artwork is subject to different interpretations and appreciate that informed responses should take into account the varying contexts within which a work of art is created. Also, you develop awareness of styles of representation, examining distinctly individualistic approaches of artists in different times and places.

    ATAR Unit 2 A2VAR

    The focus for this unit is identities. In working with this focus, you will explore concepts or issues related to personal, social, cultural or gender identity. You become aware that self-expression distinguishes individuals as well as cultures. You will use a variety of stimulus materials and use a range of investigative approaches as starting points to create artwork. Also, you will develop a personal approach to the development of ideas and concepts, making informed choices about the materials, skills, techniques and processes used to resolve and present your artwork.

    You will develop understandings of the personal and/or public functions of art in the expression of identity, for example, spiritual expression, psychological expression, therapy, ceremony and ritual, and the purposes of art, such as narrative – telling personal stories or exploring myths. You will understand that art may give form to ideas and issues that concern the wider community.

    Response to artwork stimulates insights, encourages deeper understandings, and challenges preconceived ideas. You will develop an awareness of how the visual arts may be both socially confirming and questioning, analyse your own cultural beliefs and values and develop deeper understandings of your own personal visual arts heritage.
