Minister Collier with Hospitality students and CJ staff

Minister Peter Collier visited our campus on Wednesday, July 27 to see our range of programs and meet the staff. He was met by student Board member Vanessa Hopes, who introduced him to our Principal, Ms Karen Woods, Deputy Principal, Ms Anne MacDermott, Deputy Principal Intensive English Centre, Ms Belinda Stewart and Board Chairperson, Ms Valda Rose.

Minister Collier with ACCESS students and staff 

CJ staff members accompanied Minister Collier to a number of classes. He enjoyed participating in an Intensive English class and chatting with students from our ACCESS program, a program that aims to re-engage students. He also visited our Hospitality Department and viewed our new initiative, the Arts House, where an artist in residence delivers courses to students and members of the community.

After viewing the campus, Minister Collier gave an inspirational talk to the staff at morning tea. He talked about the value of teachers in being influential in students’ lives and encouraged teachers to not count down the days, but keep the believe that each day is an opportunity to help.

Overall, Minister Collier enjoyed the campus’s caring and supportive ambience and admired how we cater for different students’ needs.
