Congratulations to TYSON ALLANSON from the CJACCESS Program at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus on winning this year’s Taste of the Future cooking competition run by Hospitality Group Training.
Seven young chefs were invited to a cook off at Belmont City College Trade Training Centre on 22nd October 2013. Their task was to design and prepare a dish featuring Mahogany Creek chicken. After their allotted time dishes were presented and judged by a panel of leading Perth chefs.
The judges commented on the high level of skills displayed by all the students in the kitchen. They were impressed with Tyson’s passion, calm persistence and methodical, step by step approach.
According to the judges (chefs Don Hancey, Stephen Clark and David Clem) Tyson’s dish, Chicken Parmigiana served with gnocchi in sage butter, was as good as Gordon Ramsay’s!
Tyson won a $3500 scholarship from Hospitality Group Training to pay for future hospitality tuition, $550 cash and a $100 voucher from Cut it Out hospitality supplies. He also won a $1000 voucher from Cut it Out hospitality supplies for the campus.
Tyson worked with staff from the CJACCESS Program and Hospitality Department to prepare for the competition. His mentor, Cath MacDougall from the Hospitality Department, was impressed with his dedication and focus.
Well done Tyson!
