Congratulations to Marie Molloy, Art Teacher and ArtsHouse coordinator, who was awarded a 2018 Australia Day WA Community Citizen of the Year Award by the Town of Bassendean.

Specifically, Marie was recognised for her contribution to the cultural landscape of Bassendean through the establishment of CJ’s ArtHouse and ArtsHouse Community Garden. The project included the renovation of the caretaker’s cottage to create a space for artists, makers and industry professionals to inspire and upskill students and staff, creating a rich, immersive and collaborative learning environment. Marie also worked closely with community members to improve the surrounding gardens of the ArtsHouse and develop the Community Garden committee.
The Town of Bassendean presented the Award during the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony held at the Bassendean Community Hall, 48 Old Perth Road on Friday 26” January, at 10:00am.
