Welcome to a new year at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus!
I would like to welcome back our students who are joining us for another year and I look forward to working with you in 2019.
To all of our new students, a special welcome. You will have all come from a range of locations.
For our local students I am pleased that you have chosen Cyril Jackson to compete Years 11 and 12.
For many, you come to us from countries around the world and I welcome you to Cyril Jackson but also to Australia. It is one of our great pleasures to have you enrolled here.
A special mention also to students who have enrolled from Tuart and Canning College. We hope that your experiences will be rewarding.
Being – Belonging – Becoming
Cyril Jackson’s ‘Find you Course, Find your Place’ epitomizes the essence of the campus. For many of you, you will have made the decision, at some point in time, to choose Cyril Jackson as the school that would support you in achieving your goals. I am aware that as a leading senior campus in Western Australia, there is much choice for you to find your place.
At Cyril Jackson I know that you will be able to ‘be’ the person that you want to be, without fear of ridicule or harassment. Through participation in your learning program and the vast array of activities that you will have an opportunity to participate in, you will develop a sense of ‘belonging’ to our vibrant campus community. As a result of these experiences, I know that we will support you in ‘becoming’ a productive member of the broader community.
Being – Belonging – Becoming; sometimes we might take these attributes for granted, and these may be easy for some, but for others it may take the support of a community like Cyril Jackson to enable them to become the people that they want to be.
We offer a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students, regardless of prior learning. We are here to support you and to progress your learning in order that you can achieve your educational goals and a pathway to the future.
You will love it here at Cyril Jackson. Not only will you have very experienced teachers but you will have access to a range of activities in which you can participate. Several of these include Harmony Day, Health Day, participation in Sporting Teams and the many wonderful excursions that your teachers organise for you to explore your learning.
In supporting students in 2019 there are two key programs which we will be putting in place. The first is a Student Advisory Group who will be representing student issues. You will be able to find members in Room 13 which has been dedicated for student use.
The second program will be the provision of a mentor for all IEC students and all compulsory aged students. The mentor will be able to support you in managing school life and assist in setting goals to achieve your future pathway.
I am excited about 2019. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.
